About
I’m Will Gao, entering my fourth year in the University of Washington’s computer science BS/MS program and also majoring in pure mathematics. This summer, I worked as an applied scientist intern at Madrona Venture Group, where I researched and built founder-discovery algorithms and systems for investors.
My interests were previously in combinatorial optimization and probability; I’m now shifting toward empirical AI.
I’m looking for a model-focused machine learning engineering role at a startup, or a research residency, for June 2027–June 2028. I’ll return to UW in Autumn 2028 for the master’s year of the BS/MS program.
I also write about musical theater.
This autumn, I’ll be a teaching assistant for CSE 422: Advanced Toolkit for Modern Algorithms.
